Children's Ministries

Our Motto:
Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22: 6

Children’s Ministry Mission Statement:
The Liberty Children’s Ministry will work diligently with the guidance of the Holy Spirit to train our children to be equipped as a witness for God, to live healthy lives, and be prepared for the Kingdom.

Children Ministry Goal:
Prepare our children to minister to other children and their family.

The Children’s Ministry of Liberty is an active, vibrant component of our church life. There is much to keep any young person involved at Liberty and each ministry with its unique focus will help the young child in his or her walk with God. Most of the ministries listed below are geared to children under ten years old, but some include older children. To learn about all the ministries for older children, see Youth Church Life.

Young Ambassadors Choir
This children’s choir has been established for about 10 years and provides a meaningful ministry to our congregation. With about 25 to 30 children, the Young Ambassadors Choir sings every month for the worship service. In addition, the choir puts on a concert twice a year and sings at a nearby nursing home about every quarter. The choir has ministered as well to other congregations in Baltimore and as far away as New Jersey.
Lilly Belles Mentoring
This mentoring group for girls age 10 and younger has become a fun way for Liberty’s budding ladies to learn and grow together. The group currently has about twelve girls who meet monthly. They learn about caring for their bodies, using good manners, the importance of being helpful at home, and behaving reverently in God’s house. The girls keep a journal of notes taken during some of their lessons or of Bible verses that have an application to what they are learning. The Lilly Belles participate in many activities that include regular visits to the nursing home to present residents with crafts they have made, a summer reading book club, and a breakfast and golfing outing with their dads.
Brothers for Christ
Boys age 7 and older receive direction, instruction and form friendships in this mentoring group. Several men at Liberty volunteer their time to provide counseling and friendship to our young boys. Together they participate in outings including bowling, weight lifting, football, and basketball. Other activities include leadership training, speech instruction and invited speakers to discuss career choices. The aim of the mentorship group is to witness and win souls to Christ’s kingdom through lifestyle.
Adventist Youth Society
Adventist Youth Society known affectionately as AYS is an excellent platform for the youth to exercise their creative abilities and develop leadership skills. AYS meets on Sabbath (Saturday) afternoons, usually an hour before sunset. The hour and a half program includes singing, Bible games, plays, recitations and a short message all led out by the youth.

Vacation Bible School
A Vacation Bible School is usually held every summer for one week. Themes in past Bible Schools have been about cowboys, cooking, Mexico, among other things. The children enjoy making interesting crafts, singing songs, eating delicious snacks and learning about God’s love.
