Dr. Ella Simmons, the first woman vice president to the Seventh-day Adventist World Church, spoke for Women’s Day at Liberty on September 15, 2007.
Dr. Simmons was elected vice president July 2005 during the 58th business meetings of the Adventist world church in St. Louis, Missouri. She serves as one of nine vice presidents to General Conference President, Jan Paulsen.
She earned her doctorate in education from the University of Louisville and a masters degree from Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
Dr. Simmons spoke for the divine worship service at Liberty where the theme for the day was “Seeking Power From Above.” The sermon text is 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
