Pastor Melvyn Hayden, Jr.
Pastor Melvyn Hayden Jr. was born in the city of Washington, D.C. to
the late Melvyn E. Hayden, Sr. and late Priscilla Hayden. Pastor Hayden is the product of Seventh-day Adventist Christian education. In his early church school academy years, he distinguished himself in the areas of academic scholarship and student leadership with strong leanings towards the gospel ministry. He graduated from Oakwood College Academy, Oakwood College and then continued his studies at Andrews University, graduating in 1965. He was voted Mr. Oakwood for the school year 1960-61. His numerous and memorable accomplishments on the undergraduate level were again in the areas of student leadership, academics and evangelism, characteristic of his sincere and spiritual nature.

Pastor Hayden had served the Allegheny East Conference for more than 35 years as an ordained minister of the gospel. His distinguished ministerial contributions have been in the areas of pastoral-evangelism, church building, church school building, numerous conference committees, president of two Ministeria, chairman of the Evangelism Committee of the Allegheny East Conference of Churches
in the Greater Washington D.C. area, Field Coordinator of Reclamation Ministry for the North American Division, radio ministry and facilitator of Marriage and Morality Seminars. He is the author of the lay church growth program entitled, The Acts Agenda.
God had blessed Pastor Hayden to be a popular revivalist-preacher and lecturer in much demand around the world, in churches, academies, colleges, universities, and camp meetings as well as national conventions, graduations, federations and ministerial workers meetings where the name of Jesus was magnified. The Spirit has accompanied him across the United States, India, Alaska, Canada, Bermuda, Trinidad, Europe, Guadeloupe and New Zealand where many souls have come to the Lord. In Australia, more than 300 souls took their stand to be baptized.
There is only one thing that surpasses his eloquent presentations and that is his evident love for God and the deep impress of the Holy Spirit upon his ministry. Wherever he has gone, Jesus has been glorified and souls have been saved.
Pastor Hayden is married to the former Denise F. Thomas. He has four children: Melonique, Nina, Tina and Melvyn Hayden, III.
